City officials are now in the early stages of planning for the 2014 state Community Development Block Grant and have scheduled several public meetings for discussion; the first of which is tomorrow evening.

According to a release from City Hall, Bethlehem will likely receive about $1.026 million in CDBG funds for next year and $265,000 in HOME program funds.

Tomorrow's meeting, at 10 a.m. in City Hall, is designated for citizens to bring their ideas for community development and housing needs for consideration toward CDBG and HOME program funding.

Administrators suggest residents review the application booklet, available at www.bethlehem-pa.gov down the page at a link titled "CDBG and HOME Applications for FY 2014" or call 610-865-7085.

A project recommendation form should be used when suggesting activities, and the Application Checklist and Funding Request must be used to request funding for personal projects.

All requests must be submitted the Community and Economic Development office by 4:30 p.m. Aug. 23.

Later public meetings will be held Oct. 15 and Nov. 6, both at 7 p.m. in City Hall.
