Upper Mac police to participate in National Night Out

Upper Macungie Township Police are particpating in the 30th anniversary of National Night Out on Aug. 6.

National Night Out is a nationwide annual event designed to raise awareness, develop local police partnerships with the community and strengthen neighborhood spirit and unity.

This free event will be held 5-8:30 p.m. at Lone Lane Park, Upper Macungie.

Activities will include cupcake recipe contest, a cakewalk at 6:30 p.m., face painting, moon walk, music, and more.

UMTP Officers Cardell and Rohrbach will be holding a motorcycle patrol unit demonstration with questions and answers at 5:30 p.m. and Officer Gardner will provide a K-9 lecture and demonstration at 7:30 p.m.

Faust Auto Parts and Towing will be sponsoring a paint an old car event for the entire family.

Miller-Keystone will be holding a blood drive for people wishing to give the gift of life and donate blood.

St. Paul's United Church of Christ will be at the event collecting non-perishable food items for the food pantry that serves Upper Macungie.

Bicycle registration will be available and certified officers will be available to assist with proper installment of child safety seats and questions concerning child car seat laws.

Davis Catering from Willow Tree Grove in Orefield will offer hamburgers, cheeseburgers, sausage sandwiches, Pa. Dutch style turkey barbecue, french fries, pierogies, dipped ice cream, canned soda and iced tea for sale.

Cetronia Ambulance Corps will have an ambulance on display and personnel will be available for questions and answers.

Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer firefighter will also have an opportunity to have their questions answered by firefighters from the Upper Macungie Township Fire Department and check out the display of fire trucks.
