A portion of the Monacacy Creek became briefly very colorful Friday as small, numbered, pink, yellow and blue plastic ducks, floated downstream during the fourth annual Great Bath Duck Race.
The fundraising event took place at Monocacy Creek Park.
With over a dozen prizes at stake, donations for more than 250 ducks, at $5 each, were received by volunteers of the Bath Business Community Partnership.
The purchaser of the first-place duck received a cash prize of $250. There was also a prize for the duck who came in last place, a bottle of wine.
The ducks were dropped in the creek and were carried downstream through twists and turns.
Children could be seen along the creekbanks, cheering on the ducks, as others were taking pictures.
At the end of the race, which lasted about 15 minutes, the ducks were scooped up in the order they finished.
They were then carried to the Bath Farmer's Market where the winners were announced.
The BBCP plans to host the duck race again next year.
