Ernest K. Strauss, 87, of Schnecksville, died July 19, 2013, in his home.
He and his wife Grace (Hartman) Strauss celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary last Sept. 6.
Born Oct. 4, 1925, in Egypt, Whitehall Township, he was the son of the late Chester and Sadie (Greiner) Strauss.
He faithfully and honorably served his country during World War II as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corps.
A member of Lehigh Valley Carpenters Union Local 600, he was employed by various contractors, the last being Alvin H. Butz, Inc., Allentown, before retiring in 1988.
He was a member of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, Whitehall.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Bonnita L. Csencsits and her husband, Edward, of Whitehall; sister Virginia Stetz of Schnecks-ville; grandchildren Keri L. Smith of Houston, Texas, Lori A. Chaney of Macungie; and great-grandson Braden T. Chaney.
He was predeceased by a son, Ronald C., two brothers and four sisters.
