Whitehall Township will continue to work on replacing the street lighting and poles in housing developments, such as Peachtree Village located between MacArthur Road and Mauch Chunk Road.

Mayor Edward D. Hozza Jr. said 88 new street lights are planned for Peachtree Circle, Michael Drive, Robert Street and Andrew Drive. The project will include LED lights, which are less expensive over the long term.

The project follows the installation of similar lighting at Village Green.

Hozza indicated Rolling Hills in Egypt could be next. Also on Hozza's radar is the street lighting on Grape Street.

"MacArthur Road is a future project," Hozza said. Work on MacArthur Road needs the consent of PennDOT because it is a state road. Hozza sees different fixtures and styles for MacArthur Road than the standard light poles with extended arms and lights now up in residential developments.

Hozza said the street lighting changes to MacArthur Road would begin at Sumner Aveue on the south and Municipal Drive on the north end. The project is not on the township's calendar at present.
