NHS girls doing well in summer season

Last Monday night, Aja Blount started the three weeks of a hectic basketball schedule for Northampton's girls basketball team by shining on the court.

She lit it up for the Orange and Black against East Stroudsburg South. Blount almost hit double digits for the Lady Konkrete Kids with nine points in a 55-42 win at the Catty Playground.

Tuesday the Konkrete Kids poured it on the Wilson Warriors 52-22. Giovanna Martinez cemented the win with 15 points.

Catasauqua Girls Varsity Basketball League will be held through Wednesday night and it is under the direction of returning Catasauqua girls coach Dave Troxell.

The Northampton girls basketball players are anxiously awaiting the Stellar and Lehigh Valley Sports Fest Tournaments and the chance to play in front of some great crowds in a charged up atmosphere.

Last Monday night in the Catasauqua Girls Varsity Basketball League, Blount was again the scoring leader for the Northampton Lady Konkrete Kids with seven points. The Kids put away the East Stroudsburg North girls 46-28.

Blount has been a pleasant surprise for the Northampton High school girls basketball team in the Catasauqua Girls Summer Basketball Varsity League.

Northampton girls head coach Jeff Jacksits said, "We are having a good summer so far."

The team also just returned from The Tarheels Girls Team Camp in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, which Jacksits said is a very good camp to attend.

"The girls had a great time," Jacksits said.

The Lady Konkrete Kids roster is: Leandra Sterner, Kayla Csencsits, Autumn Kluscarits, Amber Farnholtz, Zeniyah Sanders, Erica Filipovits, Ali Reppert, Amber Saylor, Francesca Sanchez, Giovanna Martinez, Sophia Eckroth, Lizzie Stonewall, Lauren Sterner, and Blount.
