George K. Burkos

George K. Burkos, 85, of Orefield, died July 1, 2013, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.

He and his wife Gloria M. (Mohr) Burkos were married 53 years this past April.

Born in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late John and Horepsimo Burkos.

An electrician in the Lehigh Valley for 32 years, as well as a general contractor, with his brother James, he owned numerous apartment buildings in the area.

He honorably and faithfully served his country with the U.S. Army in Germany during World War II.

He was a member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Bethlehem.

For 30 years, he traveled around the United States as a Depression Glass specialist.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons John G. and wife, Tina, of Trexlertown, Michael G. of Orefield; brother, James and wife Cleo of Allentown, grandchildren, Marcy and Brielle Burkos.

He was predeceased by a sister, Mary Pellas.
