Construction is on schedule at Fellowship Community, a seniors campus off Rural and Mauch Chunk roads, Whitehall Township.

Carpenters, electricians, roofers, plumbers and other trades people have been working to meet projected openings for the residential Beil Court and Fellowship Villa as well as Zentz Community Center.

"By October, Beil Court should be ready for the opening," said Lisa Hazler, Fellowship's executive vice president of finance.

The project broke ground during a ceremony Feb. 28.

Beil Court will feature 22 independent living townhouses, similar to others in the sprawling Fellowship campus. The townhouses are named in honor of the Fellowship Community founder, the Rev. James Beil.

Next to open will be Fellowship Villa. Hazler said occupancy at Fellowship Villa is scheduled for spring 2014. The Villa will house 12 one-bedroom independent living apartments and 35 private and semiprivate personal care rooms on two floors. The Villa will offer state-of-the-art amenities, an exercise area, wellness center, game room and common social areas. The residents at the Villa will have chef-prepared meals created to meet special dietary needs.

The third piece to the project, Zentz Community Center, is named in honor of President/CEO Robert Zentz. It will feature 350 seats for community use. Zentz has allowed Fellowship Community to serve as a central meeting room for the Whitehall Area Chamber of Commerce, Whitehall Lions Club, Whitehall Relay for Life and other groups.

Fellowship Community, as its core, provides skilled nursing, round-the-clock support services rehabilitation and long-term care for its residents.
