Edward J. Boore

Edward J. "Ned" Boore, 88, of Orefield, died July 6, 2013, in his home.

He was the husband of the late Gloria A. (Lazurick) Boore and the late Lois E. (Mitchell) Boore.

Born in Niagara Falls, N.Y., he was a son of the late Lewis and Ada (Roberts) Boore.

He received his Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnical Institute in New York.

Employed by Columbia Southern Chemical Corp. for seven years until 1957, he then worked for Bell Labs until 1989.

At that time, he was also a professor of engineering at Penn State University, Allentown Campus, for six years.

He was a member of Jordan Lutheran Church, Orefield, where he served on church council for six years.

He honorably served his country in the Navy Merchant Marine during World War II.

His survivors include sons Gregg M. of Orefield and Jeffrey N. and wife, Janet, of Allentown; stepdaughter Dr. Jennifer L. Rauch, wife of Michael Fanuzzi, of Brooklyn, N.Y.; stepson Bradley K. Rauch of Allentown; sisters Betty Sammons of Colonial Heights, Va.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother Lewis and sister Joan Pettitt.

Services will take place 1:30 p.m. July 11, at Jordan Lutheran Church, 5103 Snowdrift Road, Orefield, with the Rev. Jimmy Lee Werley officiating.

Visitation will be from 12:30-1:30 p.m. at the church.

Interment will take place in adjoining cemetery.
