Denise Marie Rice, 52, of Slatington, died July 5, 2013, in her home.

She was the wife of Rick Rice.

Born Feb. 24, 1961, in Bethlehem, she was the daughter of Ritaann (Frantz) Muthard of Walnutport and the late Patrick J. Philbin.

One of her greatest joys was spending time with her grandchildren.

She was the office manager for her son's business, C&D Landscaping, for many years, and also worked in the food service industry throughout her life.

She also pursued a degree in criminal justice and volunteered as a crisis counselor for Crime Victims Council of the Lehigh Valley for many years.

In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by children Kenneth "Chip" Wanamaker Jr. and his companion Jessica Hoffman of Walnutport, Nicole Marie Wanamaker-Christopher and her husband Todd, of New Tripoli, Brooke (Rice) Zellers and her husband, Steve, of Whitehall; grandchildren Cassidy, Sage, Bryce, Cade, Jack, Riley Rose, Skylar and Chase; brothers Darryl Philbin and Dean Muthard, both of Walnutport, and Scott Sachs of Palmerton; sisters Dana Borger of Walnutport, Dale Ann Hess of Danielsville; mother-in-law Norene Rice of Slatington; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous dear friends.
