Community Days runs tonight through Saturday

Crowds are expected to be plentiful during the 33rd annual Northampton Community Days Fair held tonight through Saturday at Laubach Avenue and Smith Lane.

The fair opened yesterday evening, July 10, beginning with the Little Miss Community Days Pageant, Irish dancers and other forms of entertainment.

Along with the return of Goodtime Amusements with rides on the midway, the Joe Weber Band will perform polkas at the portable band shell, along with Chain Saw Creations by Barry Frank from 7 to 10 p.m. The Bath Lions Club is sponsoring bingo each evening at the pavilion.

The A.D.D. Band will also perform 7-10 p.m. Friday at the grove. An added attraction will be the Tom Yurasits Magic and Comedy Show 8-9 p.m.

Saturday's program begins at noon with the third annual whiffle ball tournament. The final game begins at 7 p.m.

The event benefits the Brandon W. Sommer Memorial Fund.

The School's Out Band performs 7-10 p.m. and the Lehigh Valley Zoo will have several species of animals, including a popular penguin, 7-9 p.m.

The event concludes Saturday with a fireworks display beginning at 10:15 p.m. over borough skies by LTNT.

With the middle school construction under way, the staging area is moved to the Northampton Borough Municipal Authority grounds.
