on dean's list

The following students have been named to the dean's list for the 2013 spring semester at Northeastern University, Boston, Mass.

Allentown: Megan A. Cassel, majoring in international affairs; and

Orefield: Andrew Dolan, majoring in mechanical engineering.

In addition to achieving distinction through the dean's list, Dolan is a member of the University Honors Program, which offers high caliber students the chance to further hone their studies and interests, live in special interest on-campus housing, and participate in one or two honors courses each term.

Invitation into the honors program is highly competitive and students must maintain a high grade point average and strong commitment to campus leadership to remain a part. Currently, Dolan is among some 1,400 students involved in Northeastern's honors program.To achieve the dean's list distinction, students must carry a full program of at least four courses, have a quality point average of 3.5 or greater out of a possible 4.0 and carry no single grade lower than a C- during thecourse of their college career.

Each student receives a letter of commendation and congratulation from their college dean.

The following students made the dean's list for spring 2013 quarter at Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester, N.Y.

Allentown: Andrew Derhammer, a second-year student in the mechanical engineering program in RIT's Kate Gleason College of Engineering, Janelle Schleicher, a fourth-year student in the nutrition management program in RIT's College of Health Sciences and Technology;

Kempton: Kyle Horn, a fourth-year student in the packaging science program in RIT's College of Applied Science and Technology; and

Schnecksville: Brandon Miller, a second-year student in the mechanical engineering program in RIT's Kate Gleason College of Engineering and Morgan Reed, a third-year student in the new media design and imaging program in RIT's College of Imaging Arts and Sciences.

Robbie Hicks of Germansville graduated cum laude earning a Bachelor of Science degree in biology during the spring 2013 undergraduate commencement ceremony held May 18 at Millersville University of Pennsylvania.

She will be continuing her education in graduate school.

Hicks, a 2009 graduate of Northwestern Lehigh High School, also was named to the spring 2013 dean's list.

Students must earn a semester grade-point-average of 3.50 or higher and attempt at least 12 credits of course work to be named to the dean's list.

She is the daughter of Anne and Bob Hicks.

Student attends orientation

Anthony Cuenca of Schnecksville joined members of the freshman class June 21-22 for summer orientation at Bob Jones University, Greenville, S.C.

Cuenca will be majoring in engineering when classes begin Sept. 4.

Wesley Breisch of Allentown has been named to the spring 2013 dean's list at Quinnipiac University, Hamden, Conn.

To qualify for the dean's list, a student must earn a grade point average of at least 3.5 with no grade lower than C.

Full-time students must complete at least 14 credits in a semester, with at least 12 credits that have been graded on a letter grade basis to be eligible.
