Arthur W. Emmick

Arthur W. Emmick, 91, of 8703 Summit Court, Fogelsville, died June 26, 2013, in Rex Rehabilitation Center, Apex, N.C.

Born in Morris, he grew up on the family farm in Chenango County, N.Y.

In 1955, he sold his cattle and devoted himself full time to selling life insurance for Farm Family.

In 1956, he moved his family to New Smithville, to become the first district sales manager for Farm Family.

He changed companies in 1970 and became an agent with Provident Mutual Life Insurance Company and, years later, agency manager.

After retiring in 1984, he retained his license so he could continue working with his many clients and worked up until he was 85 years old.

He lived with his wife Mary, at their summer home on the St. Lawrence River for six months of the year for the past 37 years.

He also resided in Fogelsville with the Novotnak family, and in High Point, N.C. with daughter Judith.

He and his wife spent winters in Mid-Florida Lakes, Leesburg, Fla. for more than 25 years.

He was active in the boat club and served as commander for multiple terms.

An outgoing man, he was involved with his family and community activities.

He was the first president of the Western Lehigh Rotary Club from 1962 to 1963, and a charter member for many years.

He was a member of Ducks Unlimited as well.

He was predeceased by his wife of 70 years, Mary Louise (Willard), son Terry Emmick and son-in-law William Reinbold.

His survivors include daughters Nancy Panko, spouse of George of Fuquay Varina, N.C.; daughter-in-law Laura Emmick, of Medford, N.J., widow of Terry;Judith Reinbold of High Point, NC; and a future son-in-law, Sam Owens of Martinsville, Va.;Gail Christman, spouse of Jeffrey of Germansville; Joni Novotnak, spouse of Mark of Fogelsville; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister Beverly Knapp of Murphy, N.C; and many nieces and nephews, who knew him as Uncle Butch.

His services will be private.
