Four teams still alive

The 2013 District 20 Little League Tournament continued last weekend for 11-12 year-old majors, and, as of Press deadlines, four teams remain: City Line, Pennridge, Lehigh, and Hellertown/Lower Saucon.

In one of four games last Friday, City Line defeated Northeast 7-5.

City Line had the early lead, 2-0, when Northeast scored three runs in the third inning. City Line tied the game in the fourth and scored three more runs in the fifth inning. Northeast attempted a comeback, pulling to within one run but came up short when City Line scored again in the sixth.

City Line's Caleb Husser was 3 for 4 with 3 doubles and 2 RBIs. Northeast's Travis Brown was 2 for 3 with a homerun, a double, and 5 RBIs.

At Pennridge, Lehigh had an 8-4 lead, heading into the bottom of the fifth inning. Pennridge then scored five runs to take a 9-8 lead. In the top of the sixth, the Lehigh runner on second base attempted to score on a single to right field, but in a close play at home, was tagged on the foot by the Pennridge catcher.

Bryce Dickey was the winning pitcher. Oliver Jervis was 2 for 3 with a homerun and 3 RBIs, and Joey Smith was 2 for 4 with 4 RBIs, all for Pennridge.

Lehigh's Jack Borneman was 2 for 2 with a homerun and 3 RBIs, and Caleb Tereska was 3 for 4 with 2 doubles, and 3 RBIs.

On Sunday, Lehigh returned to defeat Lower Nazareth, 8-2.

Tereska was the winning pitcher with 5 strikeouts and 1 RBI. Borneman hit another homerun and had 3 RBIs.

Also on Sunday, Hellertown/Lower Saucon defeated Northeast 12-2.

Jared Thatcher was the winning pitcher and had a homerun and 2 RBIs. Dane Druckenmiller went 4 for 4, and Nicholas Millets went 2 for 3 with a double and 2 RBIs.

Northeast's Travis Brown went 3 for 3, and Ryan Morro and Jonathon Drago had an RBI apiece.

The tournament continues on July 5 with a District 20 champion scheduled to be crowned on July 7 or July 8.
