Frank Unger

Frank Unger, 81, of Allentown, died June 19, 2013, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.

He and his wife Betty M. (Schraden) Unger celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary last Nov. 6.

Born Feb. 19, 1932, in Allentown, he was the son of the late Anton and Julia (Blaukowich) Unger.

He faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War era.

The power room operations manager at the former Bell Telephone, Allentown, for 37 years, he retired in 1992.

He was a member of Jordan United Church of Christ, South Whitehall, and the founder of Trav-a-Longs from 1974-2001.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters Debora A., wife of Ronald Sassaman, of Libby, Mont., Kathy L., wife of Timothy Nickerson, of Williamsburg, Va., Pamela D. Unger, with whom he resided; and grandchildren Aaron, Matthew, Jacob and Emily.

He was predeceased by five siblings.
