Catty Connie Mack's squad outhit the Slaters 9-6 on the road last Wednesday, but fell 7-4 as the Maroon and White scored three runs in the bottom of the third and four in the fourth frame.
The Big Brown Machine had three batters go 2-for-3: Alex Torres, Matt Rodger and Joe Rothrock, the cleanup man who also drove in a run, stole a base and scored.
Jordan Madaya whacked an RBI triple. Jacob Kober recorded an RBI single and stole a base batting leadoff.
Nate Pontician got a hit, but was also saddled with the pitching loss. Pontician gave up six earned runs and yielded four walks.
Coach Jim Kober said, "It was a tough loss to swallow."
The Big Brown Machine beat powerhouse Lehigh Bethlehem, which was 12-1 coming into the game.
"This was an excellent game," Kober said, as Catty moved to 10-4 with three to play. "We play at Pocono Mountain East on Saturday. They're right above us in the standings. So it's a big game."
But Pocono East would edge visiting Catty 6-5 as Catty fell to 10-5 with two games left.
Against Lehigh-Bethlehem, though, Kober changed a few spots in his lineup on Friday night and gave the Lehigh Valley Connie Mack leaders only their second loss of the season, 4-3.
Jordan Madaya and Dakota Schiffer both doubled and knocked in two runs each.
Alex Torres and Madaya both stole bases and scored a run. Torres rapped out two hits.
Joe Harakal moved down to the number nine hole and supplied some firepower with a hit.
Jordan Santee, who plays for Catty High School, got a hit took the pitching win. Santee sat down eight batter's.
