Mary I. Spiker

Mary I. Spiker, 87, of Allentown, died June 15, 2013, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.

She and her husband Ellwyn D. Spiker celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary May 31.

Born in Hornell, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late James Edward and Mary Magdalene (Padden) Kinnerney.

Earning a Master's degree in health education from Yale University, she worked for the Public Health Department, Maine, for two years before retiring in 1959.

Prior to that, she was employed at TB and Health Associates, Rochester, N.Y. for 11 years.

She was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Orefield, and a former volunteer coordinator of the RCIA program.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter Anne B. Weaver and her husband, John, of Hummelstown; son Terence A. and his wife, Robin, of Lehighton; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by sons Mark E. and Patrick D. Spiker.
