The Coplay Fire Department received a compliment at the June 4 council meeting.

"I know we might have had some differences when we started. But I can say publicly I know these fellows are on the program," said Councilman Charles Sodl.

Over the past several months, Sodl questioned fire department practices, including the use of vehicles, fuel expenditures and training.

Acknowledging he asked for "a lot of things," Sodl said the firefighters have worked hard to make improvements.

He also asked that people stop referring to the CFC as "the other side" of the fire department.

Mayor Joseph Bundra said firefighters and CFC representatives know and respect the difference.

The distinction is not always made in venues such as Facebook, he said.
