Calling all performers.

The Paint the Town Purple Cabaret Benefit Night takes place 7 p.m. next Thursday, June 27, at the American Club, Coplay. The event is organized by current Temple premedical student and 2011 Whitehall High School graduate Tara Romanyshyn.

Auditions are scheduled for 5-8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, June 26 and 27, in the basement of St. Peter's church, 4 S. Fifth St. in Coplay.

"This cabaret show is not intended to be an open mic night so a distinction between singing and performing should be made," Romanyshyn said.

People attending the event will get to enjoy dinner and Broadway musical performances by talent of all ages from around the Lehigh Valley, said Romanyshyn.

"I also plan on having a Chinese auction, where guests can enter to win prizes and gift certificates from local businesses," she said.

All proceeds of the event will be donated, according to Romanyshyn. Half of the proceeds will go to the Alzheimer's Association to fund research for the disease and the other half will go to the residents of the memory support unit at Phoebe Ministries in Allentown.

The requirements are solo or group performances with no more than eight group members, song choices limited to the Broadway genre, performances limited to five minutes or less, the audition piece must be the performance piece, but the costume choice is not required for auditions. Accompaniment music must be provided on iPod or CD.
