Bath atop standings
Sometimes too much talent can cause inflated egos.
That may not be the case with Bath, but manager Gene Sostarecz wanted to make sure that doesn't become an issue for his club this summer.
Bath is currently the only undefeated team in NORCO this summer, sitting atop the standings with a 6-0 mark heading into Monday's action.
Sostarecz isn't surprised by the start, as his team began last summer 7-0 before losing to Nazareth, but he knows this squad can do better.
Following a 7-5 win over the Jeff's last weekend, Sostarecz had to let his team know things just weren't good enough.
"Sometimes you have to let them know that they need to be better," he said. "I think we were losing our focus a little bit. We were up 7-0 on Jeff's and let them back in it. If we want to achieve our goals this year, we need to put teams away."
That will be tested this week as Bath has four contests under their belt when Sostarecz knows he'll be missing several key players because of vacation.
"We'll definitely be tested this week," he said. "I want to see what our guys are made of when we face some obstacles."
Bath is the lone Bethlehem team above .500 in NORCO this summer, as Freemansburg (3-5), Jeff's (2-5), Lehigh West Bethlehem (2-6) and the Wanderers (1-4) have struggled early on.
Sostarecz doesn't anticipate his team falling behind the eight ball at any point this month, but with that in mind, keeping them focused throughout this week and beyond is important for his team to keep pace with teams like East Stroudsburg (6-1), The Birches (6-1) and Nazareth (6-2).
"We just need to keep playing our game and stay focused throughout," he said. "We know there are a lot of good teams right behind us and that people are going to bring their best against us each night. That's why we need to do the same."
