NY/NJ Comets to kick off season at Coca-Cola Park

The NY/NJ Comets are kicking off their inaugural season this month as the newest member of National Pro Fastpitch (NPF), and the only member of NPF in the entire Northeast. A special outreach series will be played at Coca-Cola Park in Allentown on Wednesday, June 19, at 7 p.m. and Thursday June 20 at 7 p.m.

"I am excited to bring women's pro fastpitch to the Coca-Cola Park," stated Owner/GM, Michael Neuwirth, who recently brought three Comets players to meet fans at an IronPigs game. "When you see the admiration in the eyes of the young girls who meet these athletes, you understand why this is so important. The Comets mission is to showcase softball at its most competitive level through these elite athletes and provide female role models, which I think is very important - and these women are role models on and off the field. Now it's up to local communities to support these women athletes. We hope to have a big showing at the Coca-Cola Park for our two outreach games there."

National Pro Fastpitch is headquartered in Nashville, Tenn. The league, created to give elite female fastpitch players the opportunity to pursue a professional career in their chosen sport, has operated since 1997 under the names of Women's Pro Fastpitch (WPF) and Women's Pro Softball League (WPSL). NPF is the Official Development Partner of Major League Baseball in the category of women's fastpitch softball since 2002.
