It's official.

Coplay Borough Council unanimously approved an agreement Tuesday night with Milander's Market to run the swimming pool concession stand this summer.

Market owner John Milander will sell food and pay the borough $650 plus utilities for the privilege.

The action resulted from research done by Councilman Charles Sodl which revealed the snack stand lost an average of $6,712 over five years.

Solicitor James Preston said he a written agreement between Milander's and the borough is satisfactory.

In a related issue, Council President Lou Bodish followed up on comments made at last week's workshop meeting by Bev Miller, a former councilwoman, about the pool.

Miller said her figures on the 2009 pool season showed the snack stand loss was $4,778.73 less than Sodl's figures.

"I did some investigating on the concession stand," Bodish said.

The numbers Miller presented were not the final numbers for the season, Bodish said. Her figures did not include additional supplies and other expenses totaling $4,819, he said.

"So we were just about right on the button from what Mr. Sodl's numbers were compared to what her numbers were," Bodish said.

"Also, the big joke on hot dogs, there were no 240 hot dogs left over. There were eight," said Bodish.

Among the items Sodl questioned were concession stand food purchases versus sales. For 2012, records showed 240 hot dogs unaccounted for.

Pool Manager Jocelyn Wedge had told The Press in May the leftover hot dogs had been left in the borough freezer.

After the meeting, Bodish showed The Press a report from Wedge dated Sept. 4 which noted only eight hot dogs were left in the borough freezer.

Bodish confirmed this means 232 hot dogs are still unaccounted for.

Sodl said he was confident in the figures on the pool concession stand losses he obtained from the borough office.

"We shouldn't even talk about it anymore because I'm confident we have fixed the problem."
