Firefighters from three South Whitehall fire stations, Cetronia, Greenawalds and Woodlawn, respond just after 8 a.m. June 8 to a report of a kitchen fire at 1120 Glick Ave., South Whitehall. Arriving at the scene and seeing smoke coming from the dwelling, command officer Rusty Held, chief of the Woodlawn Station, immediately called for additional units from Western Salisbury Fire Department, whose fire district abuts the scene of the fire, and for a Rapid Intervention Team from Alburtis. The RIT team is specially trained to provide a rapid intervention rescue should any firefighters get in trouble during structure fires. South Whitehall firefighters were able to quickly knock down the fire, enabling the RIT team to be recalled. An adult male, identified by a firefighter as an occupant of the dwelling, was given oxygen at the scene of the fire and transported by Cetronia Ambulance Corps medics. Lehigh County tax assessment records indicated the home is owned by Kameel and Samira Sattouf.
