Munion will continue her career at Nova Southeastern

2013 Freedom graduate, Brooke Munion, has signed a letter of intent to continue swimming at Nova Southeastern University, Fort Lauderdale, Fl.

Munion had been a swimmer for the Patriots since her freshman year, most recently swimming the 100 fly and the 500 free.

"I picked Nova Southeastern because it had marine biology, and the swim team was competitive. They did well this season, and I thought I could contribute to their team," Munion said.

Munion took a recruiting trip to the university for three days in December.

"They were on winter break, but the swim team was still there," said Munion.

Coach Holly Bonewit-Cron told Munion that she would like her to swim mostly distance and the butterfly events.

"I really liked how everyone seemed like a team there. They are all close, but they're from different places. The coaches care about training, and they care about you in the pool and out of the pool," Munion said.

Munion had also been considering Clemson University in South Carolina and Westport, in Florida.

"[Nova Southeastern] is beautiful. It's like a resort almost. I'm looking forward to getting down there. The Fort Lauderdale beaches are 15 minutes away, Miami is 30 minutes away, and the Bahamas are only an hour away," she said.

Munion will begin her college career in late August.
