Jean Parr

Jean L. Parr, 76, of Lower Macungie Township, died June 8, 2013. She was attended in her home by her family and the Lehigh Valley Hospice nurses and aides. She was the wife of Donald Parr. Born in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late Celia (Miller) Bandle and the late Edward Hertzog.

She attended Allentown High School, worked for Hess's Department Store and was an accomplished seamstress. In later years, until retirement, she was a nurse's aide at Cedarbrook Nursing Home.

She was active in her church and she and her husband and others worked on the repairing and rebuilding of homes in the Appalachian region of southeastern Kentucky.

She is survived by her husband; daughters, Kelly and her husband Nicholas Cury of Vera Cruz and Tracy Marshall of Coopersburg; sister, Barbara and her husband Edward Kunkle of Lakehurst, N.J.; brother, Peter Bandle and his wife Diane of Slatington; grandchildren, Emily Marshall, Bryan Delong and Amanda Delong; great-grandchildren, Nathan, Sierra and Lily Delong.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 4383, Bethlehem, 18018, or to the Lehigh Valley Hospice, 2166 S. 12th St., Allentown, 18103.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, at Zionsville Bible Fellowship Church, 6401 Vera Cruz Road South, Zionsville. Calling hours will be held noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday in the church. Arrangements were made by the J.S. Burkholder Funeral Home, Allentown.
