ALBURTIS COLUMN
Two important celebrations are observed this month Flag Day and Father's Day.
June 14 is Flag Day. The flag of the United States is one of the oldest national standards in the world. On June 14, 1777, Congress passed an act stating "the flag of the 13 states be 13 stripes, alternate red and white and the union be 13 stars, white on a field of blue. Additional stars were added as more states joined the union. This date is the official birthday. Celebrate and honor it by flying our stars and stripes.
We also are celebrating Father's Day June 16. Congratulations to all those dads, stepdads, grandpas and those who devote their time and understanding and are good role models for children not their own.
