SALISBURY HIGH SCHOOL COLUMN
On May 23, 2013, members of the Salisbury High School fall production, "Little Shop of Horrors" went to the 11th annual Freddy Awards. The night began with a performance by a select number of students from the participating schools. SHS performers included Connor Harrison, Taylor Heverly, Alan Mendez, Julisa Trinidad and Melissa Zong. Participating schools ranged from Central Catholic High School to Wilson Area High School. Categories ranged from outstanding choreography to outstanding overall production of a musical. A fun time was had by all. A special thanks to Will Erwin, Peter Sikalias, CJ Matz and Ann Ruth for their efforts.
SHS freshmen and sophomores took the Keystone Exams May 13 through 16 and May 20 and 21. Students were tested in biology, literature and algebra I. Juniors who scored below basic on the January algebra and literature Keystones had to retake them during this testing session. Juniors who scored basic or below basic on the biology Keystones in January did not have to retake the tests; the scores do not count for SHS's Adequate Yearly Progress.
Salisbury High School's 49th commencement ceremony is being held 6 p.m. June 6 at Allentown Symphony Hall, 23 North 6th Street Allentown. All guests must have a ticket, except the graduate. The tickets, caps, and gowns will be distributed shortly before graduation.
Graduates, parents, and guests may park at 6th and Linden Streets 4:30 to 9 p.m.
There will be a reception following graduation at the Arts Park, sponsored by the junior class.
The summer months are a great time for sophomores and juniors to get a head start on their graduation project planning. Grad project forms can be found on the SHS website. All students must hand in these forms by the date listed or further remedial actions may be taken. Students are encouraged to seek help from their advisors if they have questions or concerns.
