If you're searching for a fun, safe and enjoyable summer experience for your child, Camp Whitehall might be just what you're looking for.

Registrations for Camp Whitehall are under way at the Whitehall Township Municipal Building, 3219 MacArthur Road.

The eight-week program, which runs June 24-Aug. 16, provides children in kindergarten through eighth grade a number of activities throughout the day.

"Years ago each playground association [Cementon, Egypt, Fullerton, Hokendauqua and West Catasauqua] had summer programs run by each school district," said Whitehall Mayor Edward D. Hozza Jr. "Twenty years later it morphed into Camp Whitehall."

The highlight of the program, Hozza said, are field trips. These include destinatons such as Jordan Lanes, Spring Hill Golf, North Museum of Natural History, an IronPigs baseball game, movies at The Roxy, Rascal's and Camelbeach.

Games are also an integral part of the program. In the afternoon, children visit the three local pools to cool off.

The Camp Jefferson field trips are scheduled for Tuesdays and the Cementon trips are set for Wednesdays.

Hozza said the program is so unique among neighboring municipalities that one township in the area has modeled its summer program off Camp Whitehall.

"This [Camp Whitehall] is one of the premier municipal day camps in the Lehigh Valley," Hozza added.

Hozza said Camp Whitehall also accepts children from the Northampton and Parkland school districts. They pay a higher fee, however.
