The Friends of the Parkland Library, Walbert Avenue, South Whitehall will have a porch book sale at the library 10 a.m.-4 p.m. June 21.

A larger used book sale will take place between 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Aug. 9 and from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Aug. 10 at Asbury United Methodist Church, Springhouse Road and Walbert Avenue, South Whitehall.

Donated books will be accepted at the Asbury United Methodist Church 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Aug. 5-8. Do not drop books off at the library.

Books, games and puzzles in good condition will be accepted. Encyclopedias, VHS Tapes, audio cassettes, older computer books (copyright before 2010), magazines, or any book not in good condition will not be accepted.

"Jews, Money and Capitalism," family stories behind the local textile industry, 1930-80, will be presented by Muhlenberg College Professors Gail Eisenberg and Susan Clemens noon May 23 at the Allentown Jewish Community Center, Allentown.

Sponsored by the Woman's Division of the Jewish Federation of the Lehigh Valley. There is a fee for the program and lunch.

Allentown AARP Chapter 5415 will meet noon June 6 at St. Timothy's Church, 140 S. Ott St., Allentown.

Program will be "Captain Radio," aka Joe Hehn.

He will take members and guest on a journey through the glory days of radio.

Everyone is welcome to attend. Bring a non-perishable food item for the Allentown Food Bank.

The Allentown Band, America's Oldest Civilian Concert Band, with Ronald Demkee, conductor, will perform 7 p.m. May 26 at Springhouse Middle School, South Whitehall Township.

The band will perfom again 6:30 p.m. June 9 at Luther Crest Retirement Community, 800 Hausman Road, South Whitehall.

Bring a lawn chair to this free event.
