Alex Solga, a resident at Whitehall Manor, Fullerton, celebrated his 100th birthday May 2 at a party in the facility's Florida Room. Solga, in his earlier years, resided in Northampton and Catasauqua. Joined by his son Michael, Solga cut a decorated cake as he was surrounded by friends, balloons and songs that filled the air. He is a World War II veteran who served in the European Theater as a sergeant in the U.S. Army and later retired from Mack Trucks. He was also an avid golfer who continues to enjoy good health. Solga was married to Helen Solga, who died in 2001. The couple had three children, Joanne, Michael and Richard, three grandchildren and one great grandchild.
