Incumbent Republican Commissioner Tom Creighton of Lynn Township will face Democrat Bill Leiner Jr. of Coplay for the District 1 seat on the Lehigh County Board of Commissioners in the November general election.
Creighton garnered an unofficial 2,277 votes on Tuesday, according to Lehigh County Voter Registration numbers.
Leiner received an unofficial 1,916 votes on the Democratic side of the ballot.
During the campaign, Leiner, the former mayor of Coplay and Coplay Borough Council member, said the most important issue Lehigh County faces is "managing its budget and finances in a responsible manner."
Creighton said most important issue was who would vote for higher taxes and bigger county government.
A self-described fiscal conservative, Creighton said he would vote to decrease the size of government.
The District 1 commissioner represents voters in the boroughs of Coplay and Slatington, and in Heidelberg, Lowhill, Lynn, North Whitehall, Washington, Weisenberg and Whitehall townships.
