St. John's United Church of Christ, Howertown, recently celebrated the 50th anniversary of its 1963 confirmation class. The Rev. C. Walter Long confirmed 14 youth on March 24, 1963. The 50th anniversary celebration worship service April 21 was conducted by supply pastor The Rev. Bill Seaman. Hymns and scriptures from the 1963 worship service were followed. Long attended along with eight confirmands, five of whom are still members of St. John's. They are David Blum, Bruce Braker, Ted Lindenmoyer, Barbara Ruch Christman and Beatrice Ruch Christoff. Three members of the class attend other churches. They are Kay Kocher Tomko, Donna Odenwelder Walck and Bonnie Ruch Herzog. Confirmands Sharon Fegley Byers, David Gogle and Louise Smith Sayuk live out of state. Confirmands Dale Kosman, Terry Walck and Barry Weaver are deceased.
