Alex Solga, a resident at Whitehall Manor, Fullerton, celebrated his 100th birthday May 2 at a party in the facility's Florida Room. Joined by his son, Michael, Solga cut a large decorated cake while surrounded by friends and balloons. In his earlier years, Solga lived in Northampton and, later, in Catasauqua. He is a World War II veteran who served in the European Theater as a sergeant in the U.S. Army and is retired from Mack Trucks. Solga was married to Helen Solga, who died in 2001. The couple had three children, Joanne, Michael and Richard, three grandchildren and one great grandchild.
