Schnecksville Post Office employees will participate in the National Stamp Out Hunger campaign May 11.

Letter carriers will drop off brown paper bags at mailboxes prior to the event.

If you choose to contribute, place non-perishable food items in the bag and place it at your mailbox that day.

Carriers will pick up the bags during normal mail deliveries.

People with post office boxes may drop off food donations inside the Schnecksville Post Office during regular hours of operation.

Food will be taken to a local food bank at Agape Church for distribution to families in need.

Items such as canned meat, tuna, soup, pasta, cereal, peanut butter and canned juices and vegetables are welcomed by the food bank.

Friends of Parkland Community Library, Walbert Ave, South Whitehall, will have a book sale on the porch 10 a.m.-4 p.m. May 22.

Used books, games, and puzzles will be for sale that day. Proceeds benefit the library.

The Friends are running a bus trip June 22 to Williamsport. The group will depart Jordan UCC at 7:15 a.m.

The trip includes a tour of the Little League museum, Millionaires' Row, a Susquehanna River picnic luncheon cruise on the Hiawatha paddlewheeler, and a visit to a Queen Anne Victorian mansion.

Registration deadline is May 20.

St. John's United Church of Christ, 1415 Rising Sun Road, Laurys Station, is sponsoring its first golf tournament May 11 at the Blue Ridge Country Club, Palmerton. The format is a scramble with a shotgun start at 1:30 p.m.

Entrance fee includes a chance for prizes, buffet dinner and an evening awards ceremony.

Northern Valley EMS, 2375 Levans Road, will have a soup, sandwich and bake sale on Election Day, May 21. You are invited to stop in for lunch, even if this is not your polling site.

Union United Church of Christ, Neffs, reports the recent Miles for Miracles breakfast raised more than $1,100 for the Miracle League of the Lehigh Valley.

Organized by handcyclist Doug Kern, Miles for Miracles is a yearlong fundraising effort to support the Miracle League, which provides a baseball experience for children with special needs and developmental disabilities.

The Upper Lehigh Lions Club will have a chicken barbecue noon-6 p.m. May 18 at the Schnecksville Fire Company pavilion.

Menu includes half a chicken, baked potato, pickled cabbage and a bun.

Meals may be eaten there or taken out.
