John R. Balliet, Jr., 92, formerly of Allentown, died May 3, 2013, in Cornerstone Living, New Tripoli.

He was the husband of Mae G. (Focht) Balliet.

Born in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late John R. Sr. and Joyce (Schantz) Balliet.

Before retiring in 1986, he worked more than 38 years as a bus driver for LANTA, where he also was one of the last trolley car operators.

He was a member of Cedar United Church of Christ, Cetronia.

He volunteered at Cedarbrook Nursing Home, South Whitehall, and was a former member of the Fogelsville Fire Company.

During World War II, he was in the U.S. Army serving in Africa, Germany, France and Corsica.

His hobbies were fishing and gardening.

His survivors include a son, John R. III, and his wife Sandra of Orefield; brothers Lewis of Bethlehem, and Robert and his wife, Eleanor, of Bath; sister, Irene Daubert, of Allentown; nieces and nephews.
