A special board meeting was held April 29 at Lehigh Career and Technical Institute to vote on four items related to the operations of the school district.
Attending the meeting were Frank Frankenfield, Russell Giordano, Tom Mantz, Jane Fischer, Mary Ziegler and George Gatanis via speakerphone.
The board agreed to repair selected sidewalks and curbs at Harry S Truman Elementary School and Salisbury Middle School and accept the base bid. Option 2 which was approved, will be less if Salisbury Township agrees the sidewalk in between Salisbury Middle School and Western Salisbury Elementary School does not need to be replaced. Trees have uprooted the existing sidewalk.
The proposal includes removing those trees and the sidewalk, replacing the existing trees further back from the sidewalk and replacing the walk. The district is asking the township reconsider the requirement for sidewalks in that location. The money to pay for this project was allocated from the high school renovation project.
The board also agreed to authorize McClure Co. to update the administration building heating and cooling system and exterior building lighting upgrades.
The board chose to use $16,000 from the fund balance and finance the project for 10 years saving five years of financing charges.
Lastly, the board approved the disposal, through donation, of old computer equipment to Urban Renewal Corporation.
