Upper Macungie Township

Parkland Community Library, 4422 Walbert Ave., South Whitehall, is offering a basic computer class 9-10 a.m. May 4.

The class will cover job searching, how to complete an application, uploading resumes, interviews, thank-you notes and more.

Participants must have or be able to use email and be comfortable at browsing the web or have taken an email or Internet course prior to attending the class.

Class is limited to five students.

The library will be having baby storytimes from 10:30-11 a.m. May 8 and May 15 for newborns to 1 year olds.

Stories, songs, movement activities and fingerplays will be shared.

Older siblings may also attend. An adult must stay with each child.

Night at the Movies is being offered 6:30-8:30 p.m. May 8 at the library.

A volunteer CPA from Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants will speak on the topic "Money and Life: Budgeting Basics and Establishing Financial Priorities" 7 p.m. May 9. Minimum 10 attendees are required.

Dena Ruege from My Smart Hands will sing songs and teach American Sign Language signs that go along with them at a sing, sign and play class ages 6 months to 3 years at 11 a.m. May 11 in the library.

The library will be hosting local specialists Mike Sullivan, Bill Kiss, Series 65 Fiduciary, CLTC, and R. Steven Porreca, JD for a free retirement seminar 6-9 p.m. May 14.

Topics will include controlling shopping costs, bubble-proofing your nest egg, investigating healthcare/medical options, and estate planning.

The library's book group for adults, Book Quest, will meet 7 p.m. May 15 to discuss "Minding Frankie" by Maeve Binchy. New members are always welcome.

Registration is needed to attend the basic computer class, money and life discussion, retirement seminar, time for baby storytimes and the sing, sign and play class.

Goodwill Fire Company No. 1 of Trexlertown, 7723 Hamilton Blvd, Trexlertown, is having its next monthly breakfast 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. May 12.

Meal includes eggs, pancakes, toast and home fries and choose of two meats, either sausage, bacon, ham and/or mackerel.

The youth of St. John's United Church of Christ, 1027 Church St., Fogels-ville, are having a garage sale from 8:30 a.m.-noon on May 4.

There will be bargain prices on clothing, toys, DVD's, video games, electronics, skis and more.

The Busy Bees group will be taking orders for hoagies sale until May 5. Hoagie pick up is May 15.

Ziegels Union Church, 9990 Ziegels Church Road, Breinigsville, confirmation class is sponsoring a clothing drive to raise funds for their activities beginning May 5.

They will be accepting clothing, purses, belts, shoes, bedding, linens, curtains, bikes, stuffed toys and hard plastic toys that fit in a 24-inch box.

Shoes must be bagged separately.

They will no longer accept cribs, strollers, playpens, highchairs, walkers, etc.

Last day to accept donations is May 16.

Boy Scout Troop 261 and Cub Scout Pack 61 will be having a Kauffman's barbecue chicken fundraiser with pick up May 7.

Dinners include half a chicken, baked potato, roll, a dessert and beverage. Meal tickets must be purchased in advance.
