Herbert R. Beitler, 84, of Orefield, died April 30, 2013, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.
He was the husband of the late Kathryn M. (Kressly) Beitler.
Born in Fogelsville, he was the son of the late Augustus and Bessie (Muthard) Beitler.
He was a self-employed painter in the Lehigh Valley for 15 years before retiring in 1992.
Prior to that, he worked for Kenneth Mohr Painting, Wescosville, for 25 years.
His loved ones always referred to him as "Popeye."
His survivors include sons; David L. of Florida, Danny L. and wife Lynne of Huffs Church, Douglas P. and wife Deborah of Allentown; sisters Glenna Swoyer, Katherine Krause and Elsie Sebring, all of Allentown; grandchildren Andrew, Ian, Jeremy and Andria; and five great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by sisters Esther Bennicoff, Erma Erb, Edith Gehris, Helen Moyer and Elda Wanamaker, and brothers Stanley and Arthur Beitler.
His funeral service will be 2 p.m. May 2, at Keller Funeral Homes Inc., 1018 Church St., Fogelsville, with the Rev. Herbert D. Michel officiating.
Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Interment in Highland Park Cemetery, Allentown.
