Forty-five students representing each of Parkland School District 11 schools recently collected more than 20,000 items for Second Harvest Food Bank during the district's seventh annual district-wide community service event.
Second Harvest President Ann McManus talked to the students about the impact the food collection has on the region.
After loading the trucks, students toured the food bank, learned about hunger in the Lehigh Valley, how their food collection will be distributed.
They also learned the food bank feeds 50,000 people each month in the local region.
