The Lehigh County Office of Voter Registration confirmed on Monday Sherry Maikits has withdrawn her name as a candidate for Coplay Borough Council on the Democratic ballot.

The office reported it has received a court order directing Maikits' name be removed from the ballot.

Maikits had been a member of the Northampton Borough Council until her move to Coplay last year. Maikits is now moving back to Northampton.

Maikits' seat on Northampton Borough Council was filled by the appointment of Anthony (Tony) Pristash to the vacant seat.

Fundraising continues for Matthew Globosits and his family's goal to raise money to pay for a diabetic alert dog.

A cash bingo will take place Sunday, June 2, at the Slovak Club social hall, Fifth and Grove streets, North Catasauqua.

Doors open at noon with bingo beginning at 1 p.m. A luncheon will be served at 3 p.m.
