John C. Kissinger, 87, formerly of Emmaus, died April 12, 2013, in Lehigh Valley Hospital. He was the husband of the late Nancy L. (Wagner) Kissinger and Nancy J. (Reamer) Kissinger. Born in Shamokin, he was the son of the late Claude C. and Flora (Smith) Kissinger.

A graduate of Bucknell University, he was a biochemist working for Merck, Campbell's Soup and the USDA, retiring in 1983.

He was a member of St. John's U.C.C., Emmaus.

He honorably served his country in the Army during World War II.

He was a member of Shamokin Lodge #225 F&AM, Valley of Allentown, several historical and genealogical societies, the Mifflinburg Buggy Museum, Emmaus Veterans Committee, Emmaus VFW and American Legion, and a member of the 100th Division Association.

He is survived by sons, John A. of Harleysville and George B. of Coopersburg; grandson, Matthew J. of Harleysville; nieces, Flora C. Buckalew of Alexandria, Va. and Faye R. Buckalew of Fleetwood. He was predeceased by a sister, Flora J. Buckalew.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, April 18 in St. John's U.C.C., 139 N. 4th St., Emmaus. Viewing 10 to 11 a.m. in the church. Arrangements were made by the Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., Emmaus.
