Emmaus Historical Society meeting on the Knauss Homestead, 7 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, 5th and Chestnut streets, Emmaus. The presentation is on the history of one of the first families to settle here, taking part in founding and growing the community. Sacred Heart Senior Living, 4851 Saucon Creek Road, Center Valley, will host a seminar on veteran benefits 6:30 p.m. Director of Veterans Affairs for Lehigh County Tom Dye will provide information on benefits veterans may be entitled to.
Rediscovering the Catasauqua and Fogelsville Railroad, 7 p.m. at the Macungie Institute. An early industrial short railroad was built in the 1860s to connect Lockridge Furnace with a major source of iron ore found in the hills of nearby Longswamp Township. This section of the railroad has long been abandoned, and several members of local historical societies have been digging into its past. Come learn what they have discovered. Slide show and talk by Merrill Brenner, sponsored by the Lower Macungie Township, Macungie, Alburtis-Lockridge and Longswamp Township historical societies. All are welcome.
April 19
Lower Macungie Middle School will host their second annual Mini-Thon April 19. The event will benefit The Four Diamonds Fund for pediatric cancer. It will be a multi-hour dance marathon where students will seek donations to help families paying for medical treatment.

Old Zionsville UCC Church, 5981 Fountain Road, Old Zionsville, will host an all you can eat breakfast buffet 7 to 11 a.m. and bake sale. There will be a cost for guests six and over for breakfast. The public is welcome to attend. For information, call 610-966-5115.

Sacred Heart Senior Living, 4851 Saucon Creek Road, Center Valley, will host a program about the risk factors potentially leading to Alzheimer's disease or other related dementias. "Maintain Your Brain" will teach visitors how to live a brain healthy lifestyle with a review of certain diets, foods and exercises.
Lehigh Temple, 2120 Route 100, will host a breakfast 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend and donations will be accepted.

The GFWC Women's Club of Emmaus will be holding their monthly meeting 7 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, 5th and Chestnut streets, Emmaus. The program will be "A Stroll Through Time" with speaker Faith Andrews presenting a fashion show of vintage outfits.
April 24
The Allentown Public Library, 1210 Hamilton St., Allentown, will host an open mic night 7 to 8:30 p.m. It will be a platform for poets, storytellers and musicians to share their works and inspiration in an intimate setting.
Lower Macungie Township Commissioners will answer questions from the public at a candidates night 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Lower Macungie Community Center, 3450 Brookside Road. All candidates have confirmed their attendance. The event is sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Lehigh County.
Grief seminar on six Wednesday nights through May 29 will be held at Emmaus Moravian church, 146 Main St., Emmaus, 7 to 8:30 p.m. Moderated by Sylvia Havlish, attendees will learn about the stages of grief and explore the feelings associated with the loss encountered. The Lehigh Valley Chapter 1371 of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees will meet at St. Peters Lutheran Church community room, 1933 Hanover Ave., Allentown. Lunch will be served noon. Frank Kovacs, a representative from the Allentown Senior Corp., will discuss Medicare fraud following the meal. A brief business session will conclude the meeting. Soroptomist International of Emmaus Second Annual Designer Purse Bingo Bash will be held at St. John's United Church of Christ, 139 N. 4th Street, Emmaus. The Allentown Public Library, 1210 Hamilton St., Allentown, will hold a film viewing 2 p.m. The film will be "Prairie Love" about a mysterious stranger who rescues a rural man from freezing to death. Upon learning the man is on his way to visit his jailed pen pal girlfriend, the stranger decides to adopt the man's identity and visit the woman himself.
The Epilepsy Foundation's "Epilepsy Education Exchange" will be held 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Lehigh Valley Health Network, Kasych Family Pavilion, Allentown. The half-day conference will provide the most comprehensive information on the management and treatment of epilepsy/ seizure disorder. The event is open to the public. March of Dimes annual March for Babies, Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom. Registration begins 9 a.m. with the 2-mile walk kicking off 10 a.m. Participation in March for Babies will provide a memorable and rewarding day for the whole family including characters, snacks, beverages, entertainment and a kick-off program with 100.7 WLEV's Josh Gears.
