Bruce E. Pherson, 77, of Macun-gie, and recently of Sanford, Fla., died peacefully April 9, 2013, in his home in Macungie. He was the husband of Kitty (Reichl) Pherson. The couple would have celebrated 23 years of marriage Sept. 18. Born in Washington D.C., he was the son of the late Ivan and Elva (Cox) Pherson.
He was a graduate and pursued his master's degree at the University of Tennessee and served in the U.S. Navy.
He retired as the director of labor relations for Martin Marietta in 1992 after 32 years of service, at Vandenburg Air Force Base and Denver, Colo. locations. Previously he served as the director of employee relations of Lockheed, Calif. and president of Lockheed Aircraft Services Corp. He began his career as the labor manager for Lockheed Marietta in Georgia.
He enjoyed boating, fishing, home restoration, woodworking and antiquing. But most of all he enjoyed traveling with his wife and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife; children, Bruce Jr. and his wife, Cathy of Los Angeles, Calif., Michael and his wife Susan of Ventura, Calif. and Marci and her husband Jeff Brett of Simi Valley, Calif.; five grandchildren; one great-grandson; sisters, Nancy and her husband Jim Tussey and Sharon and her husband Hal Tatum, both of Georgia; and mother of his children, Rebecca. He was predeceased by a daughter, Lori Seitz in 2009.
