Arlene E. Smoll

Arlene E. (Koch) Smoll, 85, wife of the late Floyd H. Smoll, of Red Hill, died April 12, 2013, in Pennsburg Manor Nursing Home. Born in Upper Milford Township, she was the daughter of the late Joseph M. and Emma E. (Fichter) Koch.

She was a teacher at the Green Lane Elementary School for many years before retiring. She taught two years at the Emmaus Elementary School. She also co-owned and operated Red Hill Greenhouse for nearly 30 years.

She was a graduate of Emmaus High School and earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education and art education from Kutztown University.

She was a longtime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Red Hill, where she was also a member of the Lunch Bunch and was a member of Perkiomen Chapter #318 Order of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by a son, Daniel F. of Red Hill; sister-in-law, Grace Bauman of Souderton; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Francis, Paul, George, Martin and Harold; sisters, Lillian and Elizabeth.

A memorial service will be held noon, Saturday, April 20, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 1244 St. Paul's Church Road, Red Hill. A visitation will be held 11 a.m. to noon Saturday with an Eastern Star Funeral Service 11:45 a.m. at the church. Arrangements were made by the Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, East Greenville.
