April 10

Michael Stershic from Discover Lehigh Valley will give a talk about events and attractions in the Lehigh Valley 7 to 8 p.m. at the Allentown Public Library, 1210 Hamilton Street, Allentown.

April 11

The Lehigh Valley Chapter of Executive Women International will hold its monthly meeting at the Blue Grill House, 4431 Pennsylvania Ave., Bethlehem. The board will meet 5:30 p.m. followed by a social time 6 p.m. and dinner at 6:15 p.m. The guest speaker is Mary Ellen Jackson, executive director of the Center for Humanistic Change. Jackson will be discussing the work done with elementary students in the Bethlehem Area School District.

April 13

The Allentown Public Library, 1210 Hamilton St., Allentown, will host a knitting club meeting 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Knitters with a lifetime of experience can teach others a stitch or two. In return, newer knitters can teach others some contemporary patterns and cutting-edge techniques. The group will meet once a month on Saturday. Sign up at the reference desk to join the group.

April 14

Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church, 535 W. Emaus Ave. Allentown, will host a basket bingo featuring Longaberger, Vera Bradley, Pampered Chef and Thirty-One 12:30 p.m. Tickets are limited and there is a cost. All proceeds will go to the church youth group. For more information, call 610-797-4393.

April 16

The Emmaus-Upper Milford Environmental Advisory Council and Wildlands Conservancy will present the second of a four-part series of presentations about South Mountain 7 p.m. at the Upper Milford town hall, 5671 Chestnut Street. "Today's Landscape: Uses and Values: From Biking to Hiking, from Water to Biodiversity – Why We Need Balance" will provide a better understanding of the current values of South Mountain for recreation, wildlife habitat, water supplies, biodiversity and open space.

April 17

Emmaus Historical Society meeting on the Knauss Homestead, 7 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, 5th and Chestnut streets, Emmaus. The presentation is on the history of one of the first families to settle here, taking part in founding and growing the community. The museum will be closed through April 13 for renovations. April 18

Sacred Heart Senior Living, 4851 Saucon Creek Road, Center Valley, will host a seminar on veteran benefits 6:30 p.m. Director of Veterans Affairs for Lehigh County Tom Dye will provide information on benefits veterans may be entitled to.

April 19

Lower Macungie Middle School will host their second annual Mini-Thon. The event will benefit The Four Diamonds Fund for pediatric cancer. It will be a multi-hour dance marathon where students will seek donations to help families paying for medical treatment.

April 20

Old Zionsville UCC Church, 5981 Fountain Road, Old Zionsville, will host an all you can eat breakfast buffet 7 to 11 a.m. and bake sale. There will be a cost for guests six and over for breakfast. The public is welcome to attend. For information, call 610-966-5115.

April 21

Sacred Heart Senior Living, 4851 Saucon Creek Road, Center Valley, will host a program about the risk factors potentially leading to Alzheimer's disease or other related dementias. "Maintain Your Brain" will teach visitors how to live a brain healthy lifestyle with a review of certain diets, foods and exercises.

Lehigh Temple, 2120 Route 100, will host a breakfast 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend and donations will be accepted.

April 22

The GFWC Women's Club of Emmaus will be holding their monthly meeting 7 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, 5th and Chestnut streets, Emmaus. The program will be "A Stroll Through Time" with speaker Faith Andrews presenting a fashion show of vintage outfits.

April 24

The Allentown Public Library, 1210 Hamilton St., Allentown, will host an open mic night 7 to 8:30 p.m. It will be a platform for poets, storytellers and musicians to share their works and inspiration in an intimate setting.

April 25

GFWC PA Women's Club of Emmaus will be holding a card party with a light lunch served 11:30 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, 5th and Chestnut streets, Emmaus. There will be a cost. For reservations to play pinochle, call Ruth at 610-966-4985; bridge, call Jeannette at 610-965-2868.

April 26

Soroptomist International of Emmaus' second annual designer purse bingo bash will be held at St. John's United Church of Christ, 139 N. 4th Street, Emmaus. The doors open 6 p.m.; bingo starts 7 p.m. Ticket price is discounted if purchased in advance. Food will be available for purchase during the event. April 27

The Allentown Public Library, 1210 Hamilton St., Allentown, will hold a film viewing 2 p.m. The film will be "Prairie Love" about a mysterious stranger who rescues a rural man from freezing to death. Upon learning the man is on his way to visit his jailed pen pal girlfriend, the stranger decides to adopt the man's identity and visit the woman himself.

May 1

The Allentown Public Library is celebrating National Library Week with a raffle of four prize baskets during the month of April. The winners will be selected May 1. All proceeds from the raffle will benefit the library.

May 2

The Delaware-Lehigh Amateur Radio Club will hold its monthly meeting 7:30 p.m. in the Bethlehem Township Community Center, 2900 Farmersville Road, Bethlehem. The program is "Eli, the Son of the Iceman" Paul /NOKIA. Members and interested members of the general public are welcome.
