Exchange Club to hold mixer April 17

The Northampton Exchange Club will hold a mixer at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April, 17 at the Gin Mill on Main Street, Northampton.

The purpose of the mixer is to give members an opportunity for an informal dialogue on what the organization is and how people can get involved.

The Exchange Club members say the town is great, as are the needs of its citizens. While some of the borough's civic organizations have slipped into oblivion and folded because of a lack of interest from the public and aging membership, the Northampton Exchange Club continues to thrive.

Club members credit borough officials and Mayor Thomas Reenock with making Northampton a nice place to live.

Those unfamiliar with the Club may still be aware of club projects such as Community Days, the Jack Frost Parade, craft shows, the Bury the Hatchet Dinner with Catasauqua before the annual Turkey Day football game, a coin toss for shelters that help abused women and children, ACE and scholarship programs and the Youth of the Month programs honoring outstanding Northampton Area High School seniors.

The National Exchange Club has been in existence for 102 years. The local club was first chartered in 1927. It will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2027.
