Coplay police

Vehicle damaged

Coplay Police were called March 23 to the unit block of North Fourth Street for a criminal mischief complaint.

Upon arrival, police saw eggs had been thrown on a vehicle. The car had also been spray painted and the left front tire was flat, police said.

Police said the damage had been done during the overnight hours.

Police are investigating.

Driver cited

While on patrol shortly after midnight on March 23, Coplay Police observed a white vehicle traveling east in the 1100 block of Chestnut Street at a high rate of speed.

While attempting to stop the speeding automobile, the patrol officer observed the vehicle pass another automobile in the 200 block of Chestnut Street. The vehicle then turned left onto North Second Street, eventually stopping in the Samuel Owens Restaurant parking lot, police said.

While police were speaking to the driver, another vehicle pulled up and told the officer the vehicle just stopped had been involved in a hit-and-run accident in the area of the Auto Zone, Whitehall Township, and drove off, police said.

Whitehall police were notified and came to the borough to confront the driver, a 44-year-old Easton resident.

Whitehall police cited the driver for leaving the scene of an accident. Coplay police cited him for several motor vehicle code infractions, police said.

Oven fire reported

A report of an oven fire on March 19 brought borough police and the fire department to an apartment at 10 N. Front St.

The fire was out when police and firefighters arrived, police said.

Man cited

Armand Jean Jr. of 8 South Second St., Coplay, was cited for disorderly conduct March 26.

Police were summoned March 26 to Jean's residence in response to a complaint about loud music. Police said the volume was excessive and it could be heard from the street.

An officer knocked on the door several times but received no response, police said.

Lehigh County Radio a short time later advised the officer to call the residence via phone, at which Jean responded and agreed to turn down the music.

A short time later, police were informed Jean was playing the music was very loudly again and Jean was cited, police said.

Fire alarm sounds

Coplay police and the fire department on March 31 were called to 11 North Front St. for a reported fire alarm.

Power tools reported stolen

Several items were found missing from a common basement area in the 200 block of South Front Street Sunday.

Police said there was no forced entry.

A resident said approximately $158 worth of power tools were stolen between March 20 and March 31.

Police are investigating.

Kitchen stove sets off alarm

Police and firefighters responded to a report of a dwelling fire March 29 at 222 S. Front St.

The fire was contained to the back porch. No injuries were reported, police said.

Firefighters handled the situation, police said.
