Union Lutheran Church, Schnecksville, has been collecting special offerings during Lent to help a New Jersey church repair damages from Hurricane Sandy last fall.

Holy Trinity Lutheran Church at Brant Beach on Long Beach Island has set a goal of $200,000, which will enable the congregation to restore its building.

Union Lutheran is forwarding Lenten contributions to support Holy Trinity's efforts. On Good Friday, March 29, Union Lutheran will have a Tenebrae service at 7 p.m.

Easter Sunday worship is at 8 a.m. and 10:45 a.m.

The Worship and Music Committee of St. John's United Church of Christ, 1415 Rising Sun Road, is sponsoring a clothing drive April 7-21.

Accepted items include clothing and shoes; accessories such as briefcases, backpacks, purses, and gloves; fabric household items, such as blankets, towels, sheets, and pillows; soft toys; and hard toys such as cars, trucks, action figures, and dolls.

Donations will be processed by Fashion Republic, then sent to countries overseas where residents may purchase them at low prices. Call 610-262-8061 to learn more.

St. John's Good Friday worship begins 7:30 p.m. on March 29. Communion services on Easter morning will be 7 a.m. and 10:15 a.m.

Union United Church of Christ, Neffs, had 36 different kinds of soup contributed for a recent soup sampling to benefit Meals on Wheels.

Half of this year's Lenten offering will be given to Turning Point of the Lehigh Valley, a non-profit organization dedicated to the elimination of domestic violence.

The remainder will go to fund national and global mission projects of the UCC denomination.

Looking at Easter from a historical perspective, Senior Pastor Tom Thomas reports the message has been the same through the centuries the celebration of God's victory over sin, death and the devil.

On Good Friday, Union UCC will offer the Tenebrae service and altar communion at 7 p.m.

On Easter morning at 6:30 a.m., worshippers will greet the dawn at a high point on the cemetery. Easter Day services for all ages will be 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.

The Auxiliary of Northern Valley EMS, 2375 Levans Road, Ormrod, will have its annual bazaar with theme baskets 9 a.m.-3 p.m. April 6, featuring lunch, baked goods, attic treasures,and the baskets.

Mikayla's Voice Tri for Inclusion is having a triathlon at 8:30 a.m. on June 29 for children and young adults of all abilities, ages 7-18, at Parkland High School. The triathlon includes a 100-yard swim, 3-mile bike ride and a .625-mile run.

Registration needs to be made by the end of March. Open registration begins April 1.
