Catasauqua column

The Catasauqua Thrift Shop, 113 Bridge St., will have a half-price sale Monday, April 1, to Saturday, April 13.

The sale includes everything in the store unless it is marked otherwise. The shop will close for housecleaning and changeover to spring and summer clothing the week of April 16.

Proceeds from the thrift shop are returned to the Catasauqua community through contributions that support youth and adult programs and services. Donations of good used clean clothing are gratefully accepted during store hours which are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday and Saturday.

The Historic Catasauqua Preservation Association invites all interested persons and organizations to the 100th Anniversary Celebration of Old Home Week (1914-2014) kick off meeting Thursday, April 4, at 7 p.m.

The meeting will be held at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall, 417 Howertown Road, Catasauqua. Enter through the doors on the left.

The Catasauqua Garden Club has been preparing for their first regular meeting of 2013, which will take place Wednesday, April 3, at 1 p.m. at the Slovak Center Social Club, 1233 Fifth St., North Catasauqua.

Suzanne Allen, a Pennsylvania master gardener since 1993, will lead the club in making a right-angle arrangement. Members should bring their own flower arranging tools. Flowers, oasis foam and a container will be provided.

Entries for judging must be in place by 12:45 p.m. Garden friendly guests are always welcome.
