LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

UPPER MILFORD TOWNSHIP

The state police have informed Upper Milford Township the cell tower they have asked to erect near the township building will have to be 160 feet tall instead of the 140-foot tower supervisors approved last year.

At their March 21 meeting, supervisors were told the police have offered to increase the lease fee for the tower from $2,000 to $3,000, so supervisors voted 2-1 to ask the township fire chiefs and medevac whether a light would now be needed on top of the tower.

Supervisors Chairman Daniel Mohr opposed the motion, saying a light would be obtrusive to the neighbors, Township Manager Daniel DeLong reported in a telephone interview.

The board also supported having the township fire companies bill owners of properties for the cost of containing or cleaning up spills of hazardous materials. This is permitted by state regulation, DeLong said.

In other business March 21, supervisors discussed whether to require property owners to post visible address markers. They decided this is an area in which township government does not need to get involved.

The board also granted waivers to Chris Boyle for construction of a service garage at 5811 Chestnut St. Boyle's business is currently located in downtown Vera Cruz.
